Attorney Profile

Early in Mr. Stelnik’s career, he worked as an in-house legal counsel with a large liability insurance company. Mr. Stelnik gained a tremendous amount of experience handling accident cases and other insurance related matters at the insurance company and he also learned how liability insurance companies work and think. After a period of time, Mr. Stelnik left his in-house position at the insurance company and started his own law practice, representing people who were injured in accidents. He has been representing accident victims since that time.

Richard Stelnik is admitted to practice law in the state courts of New York and New Jersey, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He received his juris doctor degree from New York Law School. He has knowledge of Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.

In 2008, Mr. Stelnik served on the Judicial Screening Panel for the First District, which considered applicants for judge of the Civil Court of the City of New York.
